There’s something about Micky Mouse which makes him really nice to draw, especially when he’s chilled out like this!

Lisa Simpson (again) – mail art
Ok, I admit I was watching The Simpsons a lot this month!
Lisa Simpson – mail art
I started drawing Lisa from the bottom of the envelope and worked my way up – I think that was a mistake, as her head is at a weird angle to work around the address! But it does look like she’s writing the address, doesn’t it?
Puzzler logo – mail art
I hadn’t expected that Puzzler logo to be so challenging to copy!
I still need to work on my faux calligraphy I think – don’t you?
Blending & Highlighting – mail art
I’ve seen lots of calligraphy on Instagram with beautifully blended letters and a slight white highlight on one side. So I thought I’d give that a go for this month’s competition envelope.
I’m quite pleased with how this came out. It gives a strong looking envelope without the need for any drawings too.
Coloured pencils – mail art
I wanted a complete change with this envelope, so I dug out my watercolour pencils from the bottom of the drawer. They worked really well (with white gelly-roll pen highlights) for the lettering, and I used regular blue pencil for the background in the hope it gave a 3D effect.
Rabbit – mail art
I don’t draw Rabbit from Winnie the Pooh very often, so it’s about time he had an envelope all to himself!
I do think I need to work on my yellow colouring though – it looks fine when the ink is still wet, but once it dries there’s clear areas I’ve missed!
Fireworks – mail art
Time for Pinocchio and some fireworks I think!
Fiery Lines – mail art
I was aiming for fiery lines swirling around the letters…
…do you think it worked?
A Blustery Day – mail art
I was quite pleased to find the umbrella didn’t fit on the envelope – umbrellas aren’t my favourite thing to draw!
I decided to just do the address in neat capital letters, as the space I’d left wasn’t really large enough for clear calligraphy.
